# Banking overview

> Connect bank accounts, reconcile transactions, and manage cash.

Banking covers how adorabl connects to your real bank accounts, keeps cash balances current, and helps you prove the books match the bank.

## Typical workflow

**1. Connect**

Link checking, savings, and credit card accounts through Plaid. See [Connect bank accounts](https://www.adorabl.info/banking/connect-bank-accounts.md).

**2. Map to the ledger**

Assign each connected account to an asset or liability GL account on Bank Reconciliation.

**3. Reconcile**

Work the triage queue — confirm matches, clear exceptions, and drive the tie-out to zero. See [Bank reconciliation](https://www.adorabl.info/banking/bank-reconciliation.md).

**4. Forecast**

Use connected balances plus scheduled AR and AP on [Cash flow](https://www.adorabl.info/banking/cash-flow.md). Drag AP payments locally to test pay-date scenarios.

## Example: Trail Ridge Outfitters

Trail Ridge runs Banking on two accounts:

| Connected account | GL mapping | Primary use |

| Chase Business Checking ••4521 | `1100 · Operating Cash` | Daily ops, Shopify payouts, payroll funding |
| Chase Ink Business ••8834 | `2100 · Corporate Credit Card` | SaaS, freight, and travel spend |

Their weekly rhythm:

1. **Monday** — Confirm new bank lines in the **Needs a decision** tab; tie-out should foot after batch confirm.
2. **Wednesday** — Review **Cash flow** for the next 60 days; drag AP if the period low breaches their **\$2.0M** floor.
3. **Friday** — Clear **Exceptions** on the card account before month-end close.
