# Branding

> Set the logo, colors, and wording used on invoice emails and PDFs.

**Branding** is the logo, colors, and wording adorabl puts on a customer invoice when you send it. Finance setup lists this screen as **Invoice templates & branding**.

## Open branding

**1. Navigate**

1. Open **Settings** → **Finance**.
2. Under **AR & AP automation**, click **Invoice templates & branding**.

The page subtitle is **Logo, colors, and wording for invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and gift notes.**

## What you set

| Section | What it controls |
| - | - |
| **Logo** | The mark at the top of the invoice email and PDF. Use a PNG or JPEG. |
| **Colors** | **Primary color** is required. **Secondary color** is optional. The primary color is the accent bar under the header. |
| **Name and copy** | **Business display name**, **Subject line**, **Greeting**, and **Signoff**. |
| **Preview** | A sample of the header, subject, greeting, and signoff. Nothing here is sent. |

**Save** stores the changes and puts them on the next invoice you send. **Save** stays off until you change a field or upload a logo. **Cancel** puts the last saved values back.

> [!WARNING]
>
> An SVG logo is not placed on the email or the PDF. Upload a PNG or JPEG so the logo appears on both.

The preview also shows how a receipt, purchase order, or gift note header would look. Those messages are not sent from this screen. Purchase orders and remittance advice still go out from [Email sending](https://www.adorabl.info/books/setup/email-sending.md).

## Send a branded invoice

On a posted invoice, click **Send invoice** in the header, or the same button beside **Copy pay link**. adorabl emails the customer and includes a PDF.

The email and the PDF include the invoice date, due date, bill-to name and address, each line's quantity and unit price, subtotal, tax, total, balance due, and the payment terms when the terms have a description. The email keeps the pay button. The PDF has no links.

The customer needs an email on the invoice. If they do not, **Send invoice** reports **This customer has no email on file.**

Sending also needs a verified identity on [Email sending](https://www.adorabl.info/books/setup/email-sending.md). Branding changes the look of the invoice. It does not replace the sending domain.

## Example: Trail Ridge Outfitters

Trail Ridge wants invoices to look like the store, not a generic notice.

1. On **Branding**, they upload a PNG logo, set the primary color, and set **Business display name** to Trail Ridge Outfitters.
2. They write a short greeting and signoff, check **Preview**, and click **Save**.
3. On an open invoice they click **Send invoice**. The customer receives the logo, the accent bar, and a PDF with the balance due.
