Setup checklists live under [Operations setup](https://www.adorabl.info/products/setup/operations-setup.md). Inventory, COGS, and revenue fallbacks live on [Default GL accounts](https://www.adorabl.info/books/setup/system-accounts.md#item-gl-accounts). Carrier labels use warehouse ship-from addresses — see [Shipping labels](https://www.adorabl.info/commerce/shipping-labels.md).

## Typical workflow

**1. Define locations**

Create warehouses and set receiving/shipping defaults. See [Warehouses](https://www.adorabl.info/products/warehouses.md).

**2. Set GL defaults**

Assign organization-wide inventory, COGS, and revenue accounts. See [Item GL accounts](https://www.adorabl.info/books/setup/system-accounts.md#item-gl-accounts).

**3. Build the catalog**

Create stock and non-stock items; confirm each SKU is **Postable**. See [Items](https://www.adorabl.info/products/items.md).

**4. Receive and monitor**

Receive opening balances or PO receipts, then monitor quantities on [Stock on hand](https://www.adorabl.info/products/stock-on-hand.md).

## Example: Trail Ridge Outfitters

Trail Ridge sells outdoor gear through DTC and wholesale channels:

| Area | How they use Products |
| - | - |
| **Items** | \~200 SKUs — stock goods like `AP-3300-NV` daypacks plus non-stock drop-ship accessories |
| **Warehouses** | **Denver DC** (receiving default), **Shopify 3PL (Reno)** (shipping default), **Flagship — Boulder** (retail backroom) |
| **Stock on hand** | Daily review of oversold tiles; receives from POs |
| **Inventory counts** | Friday cycle counts by aisle at Denver DC; a full physical inventory each January |

New product launch checklist:

1. Create the item with category, price, and standard cost → confirm **Postable** badge.
2. Receive initial quantity at **Denver DC**.
3. Transfer or allocate to **Reno 3PL** before enabling the Shopify listing.
